The workshop will be held at the Convention Center in the Osaka University, Suita. The Suita Campus of the Osaka University is located in the city of Suita, which is about 10 km north from the center of Osaka city. The campus map is available in PDF format.
The network of the public transportation is well developed in the Osaka region. On the other hand, driving-a-car is a sort of battle in the middle of battle field as New York. We strongly recommend you to use the public transportation system during your stay. Please see the figure below, in which the ultimately-simplified diagram of the public transportation to/from the workshop site and hotels and airports is shown.

To Osaka region
There are mainly three ways to enter the Osaka region;
1) arriving at Kansai International Airport by fly,
2) arriving at Osaka (Itami) Airport by fly and
3) arriving at Shin-Osaka Station by Shinkansen Line (Super Express).
The location of the workshop site and each block-reserved hotels are connected each others by either Osaka Monorail or railway lines or public buses. Senri-Chuo shopping mall is located at the center of such a network of the local transportation. There are Senri-Chuo station of Osaka Monorail and Senri-Chuo station of Kita-Osaka Kyuko Line and a public bus terminal in the mall. With that reason, let me describe the direction to the Senri-Chuo at first.
To the Senri-Chuo from the Kansai International Airport :
The easiest way to the Senri-Chuo from the Kansai International Airport is by using an Airport Limousine bus and Osaka Monorail. There are many Airport Limousine buses leaving from the outside of the 1st floor of the Kansai International Airport. Buy the bus ticket at the ticket vending machine at the outside of the airport building. The ticket you have to purchase is that for the bus bound for gOsaka Airport - Hotarugaike Stationh. The rate will be 1,700.- yen. Take the Airport Limousine bus bound for gOsaka Airport - Hotarugaike Stationh (most probably leaving at the bus stop #8), and get off the bus at the first station gOsaka Airporth. It will be a 70-minutes ride. Now you are at the Osaka (Itami) Airport. Follow the direction from the Osaka Airport given below.
To the Senri-Chuo from the Osaka (Itami) Airport:
The Osaka (Itami) Airport is located at the foot of north mountain area of Osaka region. The airport is only several kilo-meters west from the workshop site. This airport is often called as gItami Airporth after the name of city where the airport is located. There is a terminal station of Osaka Monorail, gOsaka Airporth, just ourside of the airport terminal building. Follow the sign to the monorail station. Buy the monorail ticket (320.- yen), and take the monorail train. The Osaka Airport station is the terminal station, thus you may get on the car whatever the track number is. Get off the train at the gSenri-Chuoh station (4th station) after 12-minutes of ride. The Senri-Chuo station of the Osaka Monorail is located at the north edge of the Senri-Chuo shopping mall.
To the Senri-Chuo from the Shin-Osaka Station:
After getting off the Super Express train at Shin-Osaka station, follow signs to the subway, Midosuji Line. Buy the subway ticket for gSenri-Chuoh Station. The ticket will cost 320.- yen. Take the subway bound for the Senri-Chuo Station (North bound). After about 15-minutes of ride, the train will arrive at the terminal station gSenri-Chuoh Station. The Senri-Chuo station of the subway is located at the center of the Senri-Chuo shopping mall on the underground level.
Now, let me describe the directions to each block-reserved hotels. Please note that the directions shown here is the easiest way (I believe) to the hotels. It may be neither the shortest way nor the lowest-cost way.
To the Senri Hankyu Hotel
(where the registration will be take place at the evening of 25th July) :
The hotel is located by the south-east edge of the Senri-Chuo shopping mall. It will be only a few minutes walk from the center of the mall.
To the Hotel Mare Minami Senri :
Come down to the Senri-Chuo shopping mall at first. Then, take the Osaka Monorail (East Bound) to the Yamada station. If you are coming from Osaka Airport by Monorail, you can directly go to the Yamada station of cause. Get off the Osaka Monorail at the Yamada station, and follow signs to (yet another) Yamada station of Hankyu Senri Line. Take the train bound for gUmedah (south bound), get off the train at the 1st station gMinami-Senrih from Yamada station. The hotel will be right outside of the station building.
To the Esaka Tokyu Inn & Sunny Stone Hotel :
If you are coming from Shin-Osaka, Get off the Midosuji Line at gEsakah station instead of Senri-Chuo station. The Esaka Tokyu Inn will be right outside of the station building. Sunny Stone Hotel is only a minute walk from the station. If you are coming from Osaka Airport, come down to the Senri-Chuo shopping mall at first. Go down to the underground level of the mall, and take the Kita-Osaka Kyuko Line. Senri-Chuo station of the Kita-Osaka Kyuko Line is a terminal station, thus you may take the train whatever the track number is. Esaka station is the 3rd station from the Senri-Chuo.
To the New Osaka Hotel :
The hotel is right outside of the gShin-Osakah station of the super express. If you are coming from Airports, come down to the Senri-Chuo shopping mall at first. Go down to the underground level of the mall, and take the Kita-Osaka Kyuko Line. Senri-Chuo station of the Kita-Osaka Kyuko Line is a terminal station, thus you may take the train whatever the track number is. Shin-Osaka station is the 5th station from the Senri-Chuo.
To the Ibaraki Kyoto Hotel :
The hotel is located at gUnobeh station of the Osaka Monorail. Come down to the Senri-Chuo and take the Osaka Monorail (west bound) to the gUnobeh station. The hotel will be at 5-minutes walk from the station. If you are coming from the Shin-Osaka station, taking the Osaka Monorail from Senri-Chuo is fine. However, there is much simpler way from the Shin-Osaka. After getting off the Super Express at Sin-Osaka station, follow signs to local JR Line. Take Tokaido-Sanyo Line to Kyoto direction and get off the train at Ibaraki station (5th station from Shin-Osaka). The hotel will be at 5-minutes walk from the station.
To the workshop site
To the workshop site from the Senri-Chuo Bus Terminal :
Public buses bound for Osaka University are leaving from the bus stop #6. Take a bus with route number being either 100 or 164. Get off the bus at the final stop, gHandai Honbu Maeh. The Convention Center is only a five-minute walk to south from the bus stop. In fact, buses taking you to the gHandai Honbu Maeh is not only those 100 and 164, but also 103 and 105. However, the bus stop gHandai Honbu Maeh is not the final stop for those buses route number 103 and 105. So, please take extra cares to get off the bus at the correct stop.
To the workshop site by Osaka Monorail:
There is a terminal station of the Osaka Monorail, gHandai Byoin-Maeh, at the east corner of the Suita Campus. So, you can use the Osaka Monorail to the station, and walk to the site in the Suita Campus. Please refer to the Campus map. Note that the train bound for Handai Byoin-Mae is only leaving at gBanpaku-Kinen-Koenh station. You may have to exchange the train at the Banpaku-Kinen-Koen station.
